The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers: After 9 years of commuting from England, to Houston to visit his beloved Eclipse, boat owner Greg Conary has now decided it is time to move her to a new home in England. Aided on this adventure by a crew of willing volunteers, Eclipse will leave Kemah on Saturday April 26th , first stop St Augustine, Florida. Once in Florida Eclipse will join the European ARC.
The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers less famous return trip across the pond. A fleet of boats will be crossing the Atlantic via Bermuda to the Azores leaving May 8th. Eclipse is a Beneteau First 42s7 and with her new sails, we are all anticipating a very fast crossing from her. The estimate date of arrival in the Solent is about the 24th of June, just four days later Eclipse is set to race in the annual Round the Isle of Wight race. This is the single largest entry regatta in the world averaging 1500 to 1800+ entrants for the 70 mile race - the very same course as the first America's Cup race in 1855.
Greg races annually for the SailforCharity foundation at Cowes week in the UK sponsored by Healthsure in aid of the Ellen MacArthur Trust. (www.sailforcharity.com) Eclipse will be on hand for the eight day event as the teams support boat for training and for Healthsure's corporate outings.
