So when you bought the boat it didn't have the cool self tailing cockpit winches that the guy in the next slip has. Well don't despair.

There is a lower tech, lower cost solution that while not 100% self tailing are about 80% of the way there for about 5% of the cost of new winches. These molded rubber additions fir over the top of the existing winch barrel and the ribbed undersurface grip the sheets when they ride up the winch. The result is that you can easily sheet that big headsail as though you had the extra crew member tailing or as if you had been fitted with the always needed third hand.
